The Chair of Membership is responsible for planning regular membership orientations and interest events, including the PYP 101 event. This role focuses on recruitment and enhancing new member engagement within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans and executes regular membership orientations and interest events to effectively onboard new members.
- Assists with managing the membership@pensacolayp.com email to streamline communication regarding membership activities.
- Oversees the planning, setup, and cleanup of membership events ensuring an engaging and well-coordinated experience for attendees.
- Manages member and attendee check-in at membership events to ensure a welcoming and organized experience.
- Assists with capturing photos at membership events to document participation and promote engagement within the community.
- Assists with identifying sponsorships and partnerships to support membership events.
- Identifies and implements new ways to engage prospective members and establish a robust recruitment program.
- Assists in welcoming new members to the organization, connecting them with leaders, and fostering a sense of belonging.
- Collaborates with the Vice President of Connection on membership approvals and ensures alignment with organizational goals.
The Chair of Membership reports to the Vice President of Connection and serves on the Connection Committee, playing a vital role in cultivating a thriving membership community.
Responsibilities of Chairs as Members of the Leadership Team
The mission of Pensacola Young Professionals is to develop, retain, and connect young professionals to the community and each other. Chair positions are a part of the leadership team, but are not voting members of the Board of Directors. Chair positions are entry-level positions designed to provide members with opportunities to get involved in the organization and learn more about the organization.
Each individual Chair is expected to:
- Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
- Participate fully in their committee and attend board meetings when called upon
- Prepare for and attend all program meetings
- Regularly attend organizational events and provide assistance as needed
- Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and assist with identifying financial resources, sponsorship opportunities, and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission
- Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing
- Communicate with PYP members—new and established—to solicit their ideas and help them become/remain actively engaged in the organization
- Raise any general membership matters at committee meetings or to the President or President-Elect when necessary
- Evaluate each event and program at its conclusion and provide feedback for improvement
- Utilize PYP’s Slack channel for regular board communication
- Download and become familiar with GlueUp to assist with attendee check-in as needed.
