PYP offers multiple opportunities for leadership within the organization. Our leaders are instrumental in the creation of programs and administration of the organization.

PYP is the organization where people in their early career stages can find a place to belong, build a sense of competence about our community, and feel empowered to influence change in a positive direction. It takes dedicated, motivated individuals working together as a team to serve our members, our sponsors, and our community by planning and executing valuable programming and events.

Join Our Team

PYP Leaders are volunteers who give their time, talent, and other resources to elevate PYP and the Pensacola Bay area to the highest level possible.

  • Board Members are expected to attend PYP Board meetings (once per month), Board retreats (twice per year), and PYP events, programs, workshops, and committee meetings, as available.
  • All leaders are expected to proactively and enthusiastically engage with PYP members and potential members at our events and via communication channels; our goal is to ensure everyone feels a sense of welcome, voice, and belonging.
  • All leaders are expected to stay informed of what’s happening across PYP and communicate all of our offerings to members, potential members, community members, and sponsors.

PYP Members in good standing who are dedicated to personal and professional development and who are passionate about catalyzing positive change in our community. If you are not a member and would like to become one in order to apply, please do so!

Applications are completed online by clicking the link below. Please complete the form and upload your resume by the deadline in order to be considered. Once your application is received, you will be contacted to schedule an in-person, 30-minute peer interview. The interview panel is compromised of PYP Directors, Leaders, and members. The interview is a chance to see if PYP is a good fit for you and if you are a good fit for PYP.

Submit your application by the deadline to be considered for any of our positions. We’ll follow up to schedule your peer interview once applications close.

Peer Interview

We’ll conduct peer interviews with a panel comprised of PYP leaders and members to ask you some behavior-based questions. This is an opportunity for us to get to know you as much as it is for you to get to know us.

Decisions

Once the panel makes a decision you’ll receive a call with the results. If you’re offered a position, we invite you to join us at our next board meeting where we’ll vote to make it official.

Board Meeting

The board will vote to accept your nomination to our team. While we invite you to join us,  you’ll be asked to step out of the room while we discuss and vote. After this meeting, we’ll reach out with next steps on your transition. We can’t wait to get started with you!

Membership Coordinator

  • Work with VP of Membership to help organize and attend regular membership events to cultivate the general membership of the organization and encourage new memberships
  • Eagerly communicate with PYP members—new and established—to solicit their ideas and help them become/remain actively engaged in the organization
  • Facilitate new member onboarding and promoting of all upcoming PYP events
  • Communicate regularly with members in the Facebook Members-Only group

Leadership Team

Networking Coordinator

  • Work with VP of Networking to organize and promote regular Networking Nights
  • Work with VP of Networking to Coordinate PYP’s annual dinner and additional special events as needed
  • Eagerly communicate with PYP members—new and established—to solicit their ideas and help them become/remain actively engaged in the organization

Treasurer

The duties of the board treasurer include:

  • Attend board meetings and important related meetings
  • Review finances of the organization and present updates at each board meeting
  • Work with the Executive Director to provide an annual budget to the Board of Directors for approval
  • Monitor expenditures of teams/programs to ensure they remain within budget
  • Ensure development and board review of financial policies and procedures
  • Display diligence and integrity in the handling of PYP’s finances
  • Assist in coordinating fundraising for the organization

From the Bylaws:

4.5 Treasurer.  The Treasurer shall have the custody of all funds, property, and securities of the Corporation, subject to such regulations as may be imposed by the Board of Directors.  The Treasurer may be required to give bond for the faithful performance of his or her duties, in such sum and with such sureties as the Board of Directors may require.  When necessary or proper the Treasurer may endorse on behalf of the Corporation for collection checks, notes, and other obligations, and shall deposit the same to the credit of the Corporation at such bank or banks or depositary as the Board of Directors may designate.  The Treasurer shall sign all receipts and vouchers and, together with such other officer or officers, if any, as shall be designated by the Board of Directors, shall sign all checks of the Corporation and all bills of exchange and promissory notes issued by the Corporation, except in cases where the signing and execution thereof shall be expressly designated by the Board of Directors or by these Bylaws to some other officer or agent of the Corporation.  The Treasurer shall enter regularly on the books of the Corporation to be kept by him or her for that purpose a full and accurate account of all moneys and obligations received and paid or incurred by him or her for or on account of the Corporation, and the Treasurer shall exhibit such books at any reasonable time or times to any Director upon reasonable notice at the offices of the Corporation.  The Treasurer shall present such books to the Board of Directors annually for audit.  The Treasurer shall present a written financial report to the Board of Directors at each annual meeting of the Corporation.  The Treasurer shall, in general, perform all the duties incident to the office of treasurer, subject to the control of the Board of Directors.

Candidates for Selection to Leadership Team:

  • Must be a PYP member in good standing
  • Must submit an application and a resume via the online application
  • Must be available to meet for an interview with the selection committee
  • Must be able to attend monthly PYP BOD meetings that occur on the third Monday of each month

Leadership Team Terms:

  • The President, President-Elect, and Past-President positions are a one-year term
  • All other positions are appointed to a one-year term with the option for a second year by confirmation of the BOD

Criteria Used by Selection Committee to Choose Among Candidates:

  • Candidate’s tenure as PYP member and any leadership positions previously held within PYP
  • Written responses to questions posed in this application
  • Verbal responses to behavior-based questions asked at interview
  • Other considerations that indicate that a candidate is uniquely qualified to serve as a leader
